Buildings of Dubai (UAE)

The map represents all buildings in Dubai aggregated into H3 hexagons (resolution 8). The hexagons are colored by the sum of the residential population, and their height represents the median number of floors.

In particular, you can notice that most of Dubai consists of predominantly low-rise development – even the 95th percentile of building height is just 3 stories. Overall, there are no more than a dozen hexes where the median exceeds 5 floors.

Moreover, a large share of residents (more than half) live no farther than 10 km from the waterfront.
